After raising more than $200 for breast cancer last month, the Cochrane Generals got moving on their Movember madness to raise money for prostate cancer research this month.

Football, football, and more football. From 8- 9-year-old Atoms (Cochrane Lions undefeated this season), to high school, to the pros, this has been a stellar year for Cochrane football. Particularly Calgary Stampeders fullback Rob Cote.

Battle-weary and hobbled, the Cochrane Generals remain unbowed and continue fighting their way through the Heritage Junior Hockey League season.

Epic: adjective. Spectacular; very impressive; awesome. Team Alberta wrapped up Hockey Canada’s national U18 female tournament in a bronze-medal game for the ages Nov. 10 at Calgary’s Markin MacPhail Centre, edging Quebec 6-5 in overtime.

The Bow Valley High School Bobcats fell into a viper pit in Claresholm and came home with a bad case of snake bite.

It’s the end of the line for the Cochrane Lions peewee football team. They play their last game of the season Nov. 16 against the Lacombe Rockets, in the provincial Tier 3 championship game.

The Springbank Community High School Phoenix junior-varsity (JV) boys volleyball team won the Rocky View Sports Association Division banner Nov.

The end of the line came early this season for the defending provincial Tier 3 high school football champions.

Let the Games begin. With the last round of Canadian luge training in Sochi ending Nov. 5, the Olympic torch in outer space and 84 days to the start of the 2014 Winter Games, Cochrane’s Tristan Walker is eager to pop the top off this Olympiad.

Business as usual. And, while you can take nothing for granted in football, the Cochrane High School Cobras are running like a well-oiled machine.
