The Cochrane Curling Club’s 2018 edition of the Men’s Bonspiel is scheduled to take place Jan. 26 through Jan. 28 at Spray Lake Sawmills Family Sports Centre.

Organizers of the 10th Annual Kimmett Cup Memorial Pond Hockey Tournament said the event was a “monumental” success and a fitting honour to the event’s namesake Lindsay Leigh Kimmett.

The Cochrane Chaos female junior hockey team have been very impressive this season in the Alberta Junior Female Hockey League (AJFHL), racking up 16 of a possible 20 wins including a 10-game winning streak that was just recently snapped on Jan.

The Cochrane High Cobras and Bow Valley Bobcats senior basketball teams are trying to get back into game shape after a long Christmas break, where all the Cochrane based school teams’ final game was played on either Dec. 19 or 20.

The St. Timothy Thunder senior boys and girls basketball teams were thrust back into action on Jan. 9 after their long Christmas break. The girls defeated the Lord Beaverbrook Lords 48-38 in a tight game on home court.

The Brazilian sport of Futsal is coming to Cochrane. Cesar Parra will be coaching adult and youth futsal programs starting on Jan. 16 and said he’s looking at is a way to improve Cochrane soccer players and teach them more advanced skills.

After a few weeks off for Christmas break, the Cochrane Generals got back into the swing of things, kicking off the second half of the Heritage Junior Hockey League (HJHL) season with a pair of games on Jan. 5 and 6.

The Rocky Mountain AAA Female Raiders pulled off a rare feat at the annual Mac’s Midgets AAA World Invitational Tournament that began on Dec. 26 and ended with the tournament finals in both the male and female divisions on Jan. 1.

Cochrane product Dillon Dubè is riding high after his Canadian World Junior team took gold at the international tournament earning redemption from last year’s championship round loss to the United States.
