At c ouncil’s Sept. 10 meeting, we will be discussing the report from the Transit Task Force. Public transit has been debated in Cochrane for many years.

Words of praise and gratitude are affirmations that truth, goodness and beauty are still alive and well in a difficult, often bewildering world.

For most Fridays over the past few years, my wife Mary Anna and I have had the tradition of treating ourselves to lunch in Cochrane at Pierre Langlois’s highly rated Portofino Italian Ristorante.

If the purpose of Cochrane Integrated Arts Society (CIAS) is to promote the arts in Cochrane, what are we doing about that? Here’s what’s we got going on so far. The first thing on that list is our website at www.CochraneArts.com.

Two virtually synonymous metaphors have guided much of my thinking and writing in recent years: being Cups of Light to each other, and fanning the embers in each other’s souls back into life. Ronald Rolheiser , OMI, echoes both metaphors in his Aug.

Soon we will be deciding if we want to keep the Cochrane Rodeo Grounds at its historic location, or move it out of town.

This past Saturday’s stroll through the Cochrane Farmers’ Market brought home to me afresh the words of Josh Groban’s inspiring piece, You Raise Me Up. I myself was feeling a bit down and weary that morning, sort of like an old discarded newspaper.

To those who haven’t yet heard, I am excited to announce that Cochrane has a new arts organization to promote the arts in Cochrane.
