We’ve just passed the one-year mark of when Southern Alberta experienced one of the worst flooding events in the history of our province. Cochrane was fortunate: our town was not impacted to the extent of many of our neighbours.

The 2014 Calgary Stampede kicks off in Calgary tomorrow, with ‘The Best Outdoor Show on Earth’ in its 102nd year.

With summer finally upon us there are many more reasons for the residents of Cochrane to get out and meet, greet, chat and engage.

It’s not very often that sports guys like Brendan and I get a chance to see a local guy overcome the odds and take home the hardware.

In last week’s column, authenticity guru David Irvine shared how his physician-brother Hal’s terminal illness has led the two professionally preoccupied men to rebuild their personal relationship together after putting it on hold for far too long.

Finally, we can start travelling with our horses and enjoying the mountain trails (at least those not impacted by the flooding).
