We are born into this world with no set expiration date. No one knows how long each visit will last which is probably a good thing.

Not much has changed here in Morley. The newly-elected council for Bearspaw band is up for re-election here in August and next year sees Chiniki band head off to the polls, which leaves Wesley band election in 2015.

The Cochrane Rotary Youth Talent Festival was simply amazing. The talent these kids have is so impressive, and they’re just kids. Soren Lorentzen is a 10-year-old violin player with incredible talent.

As Cochrane’s history evolved, there was a first time for everything. Satellite Printing Ltd. on 2nd Avenue East has the unique distinction of being the first printing company in Cochrane.

One down and nine to go. At 6:03 p.m. May 2, Aaron McConnell from TransRockies Events Inc. blew the whistle and a group of “Chasers” headed west, from the East Village Plaza in Calgary, along a path by the Bow River.

Over the years that I’ve been writing these columns, one Cochrane reader responded often with praise for beautiful words, dragonflies, and lives lifted upward.

I must say, lately I have felt like the “flavour of the month!” Whenever I open the mighty Cochrane Eagle, there I am! I told my husband I will be glad when I open the paper, and I’m not there. Whoops, better watch what I hope for, I might get it.

It’s great to be sitting in the stands and hear the announcer introducing and praising something from Cochrane. Like last Saturday when the Cochrane Pipe Band was announced at the 2013 Calgary Military Tattoo at Max Bell Arena.

May 12 is Mother’s Day, and it’s not every Mother’s Day that we celebrate the gifts and abilities of our youth.
