Despite following all health and safety guidelines, I tested positive for COVID-19 a few months ago. My family also lost a loved one to the virus as it made its way through Canada.

The feeling of optimism and hope is growing in Alberta. Starting on Wednesday (Feb. 24) Alberta seniors who turn 75 years old this year can begin booking their appointments for the COVID-19 vaccine through Health Link 811.

In preparing for this week’s Lenten column, I viewed tenor Andrea Bocelli’s inspiring performance of The Lord’s Prayer for Pope Francis, and highly commend it to your ears and hearts, as well.

“Eating out” was not an option in my youth. My family could not afford it. Hot dogs, Jello and Twinkies were the only glimpses of the glamorous cuisine of big-city lifestyles - at least what I imagined they offered.

Dear Editor, I recently had some bad news from good friends in Cochrane. Their son has been waiting for a kidney transplant for a number of years and, recently, his situation has worsened a lot, it seems.

I would like to address the Town Council and the proposal to change the parameters of the Off Leash Dog Park next to the Bow River recently renamed the Jim Uffelmann multi-use Park. This area has been a designated Off Leash Dog Park for decades.

Just like me, I assume most of Cochrane have been hunkering down in our homes over this weekend. This can very likely be contributed to COVID-19 restriction and yes, Old Man Winter. We are so very lucky that we have homes that have so many comforts.

The Secret 3K run/walk, is an event held annually during International Women’s Week to promote equality. It started in 2018, in 10 cities across Canada and has grown every year.
