If that wasn’t bad enough now we have another Liberal turned Reformer in Jason Kenney treating his supporters like morons while he plays the same mind games his hero Ralph Klein played on us with the same results another “horrific mess” as Lougheed called Klein’s.

We have heard the message across the globe. It is us – as individuals working together – who will ultimately determine the impact this virus has on our families, our livelihoods, our civil liberties and the global economy. More must be done.

The effects of racism are significant. For many First Nations youth struggling to find their way in life, racism can be the final straw. It can destroy one’s hope.

And so when we are facing possible threat and we want to be able to assess risk rationally and logically so that we can continue to function and relate to others, well we must find a way to dial down the primal brain and bring the logical brain back online.

It occurs to me that hope and joy are intimately associated with light in another context that many over the ages have found deeply inspiring: the story of Jesus, “the Light of the world” according to the Gospel of John.

We have no other option but to stick it out. Times are tough and our children need us to be our best selves.

The complexity of this problem is beyond any world experience. No country has been ready for this virus and contrary to Mr. Cunin’s implausible rhetoric, could they be expected to be.

Without exception governments have failed to put the needs of people ahead of their own perceived self-interest. The irony is that this insular response will cost their nations far in excess of what could have been avoided both in terms of economic loss and human lives!
