This Friday, Mayor Jeff Genung and the Cochrane Legion, Branch 15 members hosted a cheque presentation ceremony to celebrate and present the $104,920 in funding for the Cochrane Legion group dedicated towards supporting veterans.

Federal and provincial governments say they are matching donations made to the Canadian Red Cross (CRC) 2024 Alberta Wildfires Appeal.

The healing power of music will be on view as evacuees of the Jasper wildfire are invited to attend the Calgary Folk Music Festival free of charge on Sunday, July 28.

The Rotary Club of Cochrane plans to host a fun afternoon at the Cochrane Golf Course with their Golf Fellowship Event on July 30.

The ongoing fires in Jasper have torn through the mountain town, causing a yet unknown amount of damage, and drawing national attention as firefighting crews from across the province have been mobilized to fight the fire.

“Under an evacuation alert, residents should be prepared to evacuate on one hour notice.”

Dozens of ag societies across the province are offering space to people who have been forced to flee wildfires in Alberta.

Cochrane Search and Rescue assures the community that they are ready to mobilize in the event to help with wildfire fighting efforts at home or across Alberta.

“It is with heavy hearts that we report that this aggressive and fast-moving fire continues to burn in Jasper National Park."
