Sunny Side Up resumed what has become an annual tradition this fall, winning the Best of Cochrane Readers' Choice Award for Best Breakfast, while also nabbing third place for best patio.

“The staff definitely are the heart of Half Hitch, always with a smiling face, and it’s really laid back – the kind of place you can gather with your family, or your pooch,” Kozloski said.

When Don Sharpe attended the Airdrie Health Foundation’s Light up the Night fundraising gala in September, he was so moved by Michelle Bates’ story that he asked ‘Why not us, why not here in Cochrane?’ The idea took root.

“We all just come in to work every day and do our jobs to try and make a difference in our community,” co-owner and operations manager, Reid Kimmett said. “To be acknowledged for that work feels pretty special.”

“This is something that can take Cochrane viral in a good way,” Genung said. “… Yes, it’s gonna cost money, [but] it’s a functional piece of artwork that’s just going to be so cool to have in Cochrane."
