"We were just shy of $17,000 last year," he said. "So we're definitely looking to beat this year's total and raise at least $17,000 or more. If we do that, then we'd hit $100,000 total and that would be huge for an event like this."

Their next event, Canada Day 2020, will signify a milestone for the volunteer-led group. The July 1 celebration will be their 40th organized event.
