If your saddle sores from Stampede aren’t too bad, Bragg Creek Days is returning to the hamlet July 17 to 19 with loads of summer festivities to choose from.
On Friday, families are invited to kick off the weekend’s event with a free movie night featuring the fantasy CGI flick Strange Magic.
Saturday starts off with a pancake breakfast from 8 a.m. until 10 a.m. put on by the Redwood Meadows Emergency Services staff at the Bragg Creek Community Hall. After getting your fill of flapjacks, catch the parade starting at 10:15 a.m.
Families can enjoy a host of carnival style activities, such as magicians, a dunk tank, face painting and more. New this year is a 50/50 draw as well as a mechanical bull.
Sunday will feature the ‘Ride for Site Event: Motorcyclists Fighting Blindness’, which includes a pancake breakfast from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., poker rally and ‘show and shine.’
“It’s a huge stop for motorcyclists. We thought it’d be great to include another charity and one that’s so popular with the area,” said Shay Radford, a community centre staff member.
Music will be provided by the folk-roots outfit Elbow River, live DJ and country group, with a ‘neo-honky tonk edge’, the Lee Taylor Band.
The market will include over 30 local vendors that patrons can choose from.
Money raised during Bragg Creek Days will go towards funding the Bragg Creek Community Association’s summer activities.
Volunteers will be given free admission, lunch and drink coupons for their efforts.
