Brides looking for a deal on a wedding dress might be in luck this weekend with the fourth annual Cochrane Bridal Fair March 4 at the Cochrane RancheHouse.
This year the town’s premier bride’s event will feature a sample fair courtesy of Calgary’s Cameo and Cufflinks. Voted Calgary's consumers choice No. 1 salon in 2016 and favourite for 2017 by Metro, the boutique is offering a massive sale with the potential to save brides hundreds of dollars.
“It should be a fairly big draw because the savings are going to be pretty substantial,” said Greg Barsi, the RancheHouse facility manager.
With around 100 off-the-rack gowns all marked down between 30 and 90 per cent from a variety of Cameo and Cufflink’s designer lines, the sale is a great opportunity.
For those who want something more custom or want to choose from more variety, Cochrane Bridal Experience Boutique will also be on hand with their catalogue of dresses.
Barsi said this year’s fair has also been pared down to 45 vendors from 70 to improve the experience.
“We did that based on feed back from last year,” said Barsi, who said the number of vendors at the last fair made it difficult for people to pass through quickly and left a lot of vendors sitting idle for long periods of time.
Despite having fewer booths, Barsi said there will be something for every bride regardless of taste and style – from photographers, makeup and apparel to limos, food and cakes.
The annual fashion show will also take the stage from noon to 2 p.m. featuring bridal and destination wear and a new segment featuring vintage rentals.
Barsi said the fair hopes to have at least 100 brides attend the show but is aiming for closer to 200 to come through the doors. Last year, with the economy still depressed there were 100 brides and 160 the year before. To accommodate the attendance goals, the price of admission has been reduced to $5 from $10 last year.
Free photo booths, door prizes, swag bags and limo rides from the overflow parking lot, top off the list of features at the Bridal Fair.
