Candidates officially named

Candidates for the Town of Cochrane, Rocky View County (RVC) and Rocky View Schools (RVS) are now set in stone for the Oct. 21 election.

Candidates for the Town of Cochrane, Rocky View County (RVC) and Rocky View Schools (RVS) are now set in stone for the Oct. 21 election.

Cochrane will see 13 run for a council position – incumbents Ross Watson, Jeff Toews and Tara McFadden, and newcomers Shana Bruder, Dan Cunin, Gaynor Levisky, Morgan Nagel, Jim Uffelmann, Kaitee Dal Pra, Mary Lou Davis (a former Cochrane councillor), Steve Grossick, Jamie Kleinsteuber and Marty Lee – and three vying for mayor – Ivan Brooker, Joann Churchill and David Smith.

RVC residents will have 20 people running for office; they include incumbent Liz Breakey and Sunil Mattu for Division 1, Jerry Arshinoff and Cindy Turner in Division 2, incumbent Margaret Bahcheli and Cameron Wallace for Division 3, incumbent Rolly Ashdown and Gerard A. Lucyshyn in Division 4, incumbent Earl Solberg, Bob Gaidhar and Jerry Gautreau for Division 5, incumbent Greg Boehlke and John McMurray in Division 6, incumbent Lois Habberfield and Stirling Vance for Division 7, incumbent Al Sacuta and Eric Lowther in Division 8 and Jill Cairns, Bruce Kendall and Norman Kent for Division 9.

For RVS’ board of trustees, there are two wards that will be acclaimed, Bev LaPeare in Ward 2 and Colleen Munro for Ward 5.

In Ward 1, incumbent Norma Lang will face Jennifer Avery; incumbent Sylvia Eggerer, Grant Gilbertson, Todd Brand, Diane Hunter, Sherry Lester, Phyllis McCallum-Hunter, Anthony Powell and Yazdi Bulsara for Ward 3; incumbent Helen Clease and Dan Cavanagh for Ward 4 and Fiona Gilbert, Ken Koob and Maria Witney for Ward 6 (Cochrane).
