For the birds
The Cochrane Public Library is offering a free and fun way to connect with your community, and support your local bird population. While supplies last, you can pick up your very own take-home bird house building kit. The kit comes with directions on how to register for an online session of the Mental Health Capacity Building program, Stepping Stones to Mental Health. The online session will be held on May 20, from 6 to 7 p.m. The initiative is meant to promote positive mental health in children, youth and families and to support individuals in the community who interact with those groups. For more information visit the Cochrane Public Library on Facebook.
Supporting the supporters
Big Hill Haven is inviting residents to learn more about how they can become natural supporters of survivors of domestic abuse. The non-profit women's shelter is hosting a free five-session online course, designed to give the attendee a deeper understanding of domestic violence and how to support someone in need of help. By deepening the community’s understanding of issues related to family violence and providing informal tools and knowledge to help, Big Hill Haven hopes to increase the community’s ability to respond effectively to women and children who are experiencing family violence. The first of the five courses will take place on May 5, from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. To register visit bighillhaven.com/.
