What's happening in Cochrane this week: the Cochrane Activettes is accepting applications for the Cochrane Activettes Bursary, the Cochrane and Area Humane Society is fundraising to help cover the costs of critical surgeries for two dogs, and the Town of Cochrane is inviting residents to have their voices heard regarding the development of the Calgary Metro Region.
Cochrane in Brief

Share your thoughts on the Calgary Metro Region

The Town of Cochrane is inviting residents to shape the future of the Calgary Metro Region by sharing their thoughts during the final phase of engagement through the Calgary Metropolitan Regional Board. Two previous phases of engagement in 2020 supported the state of the current draft plan, which guides how and when new development will take place in the Calgary Metro Region. This current phase of engagement is happening from March 18 to April 8, and includes online engagement and virtual open houses. Visit calgarymetroregion.ca to register and offer your feedback on the future of the region. Registration is also required prior to attending any of the virtual open houses.

Funds needed for critical canine surgery

The Cochrane and Area Humane Society is fundraising to help cover the costs of two specialized orthopedic surgeries that were needed by a pair of the shelter’s new canine residents. Bristol arrived at the shelter with fairly severe injuries to his back legs, including open wounds and a fractured rear leg. Sara, the other recently sheltered dog, arrived at the shelter with a torn cranial cruciate ligament, and a litter of five puppies. The shelter is looking to raise $6,000 to help cover the costs of the surgeries and follow-up treatments for the pair of dogs. Visit the Cochrane and Area Humane Society on Facebook to donate.

Cochrane Activettes Bursary available to recent high school graduates
