The Town of Cochrane is inviting residents to help shape the future of local policing by participating in a community-wide survey, open from August 5 to 19, 2025.

As part of a broader review of policing services, the Town has engaged Western Management Consultants (WMC) to explore potential service delivery models that reflect the needs of Cochrane’s growing and evolving population.

“This is about planning for the future,” said Jay Judin, Director of Community Safety for the Town of Cochrane. “We want to understand what’s working, what could be improved, and what residents expect from their local policing services.”

The survey focuses on three key areas:

  • How safe residents feel in the community
  • Trust and satisfaction with current policing services
  • Perceived value for money in local policing

Survey responses will contribute directly to a final report prepared by WMC, which will include key findings and recommendations. This report will guide Town Council in future discussions and decisions regarding policing strategy.

Notably, this review was initiated prior to the Province of Alberta’s announcement regarding the formation of the Alberta Sheriffs Police Service, and is not connected to that initiative.
