Gavin Wade is many things.
He's a member of the Bow Valley High School student council, yearbook committee member, and a high school Schulich Leader nominee. He's a volunteer with the outdoor hockey fundraising tournament the Kimmett Cup; a volunteer coach with Cochrane Minor Hockey; and a prolific fundraiser for the Coldest Night of the Year.
But it is his role with the Air Cadets and his leadership as the Chief Warrant Officer of the 952 Squadron that he has become the newest recipient of the King Charles III Coronation Medal.
Wade was nominated by his squadron's commanding officer for the prestigious medal, which is awarded to Canadians who "have made a significant contribution to Canada or to a particular province, territory, region or community of Canada, or have made an outstanding achievement abroad that brings credit to Canada." Wade was presented with the medal at a ceremony in Calgary on July 31.
Congratulations, Gavin Wade.
