RCMP seizes seizure of a prohibited sawed-off shotgun along with ammunition and imitation firearms.

On June 15, 2025, Cochrane RCMP executed a search warrant at a residence on the Stoney Nakoda First Nation, leading to the seizure of a prohibited sawed-off shotgun, ammunition, and imitation firearms.

Cochrane RCMP thanked the North RCMP Emergency Response Team and Southern RCMP Police Dog Services for their support, especially while resources are being allocated to the G7 Summit.

“This kind of investigation demonstrates that the RCMP is committed to keeping communities safe, despite our ongoing deployments to major events such as the G7 Summit,” said Insp. Dave Brunner, detachment commander for Cochrane RCMP.

The investigation began when a suspect, recently released on conditions pending trial, was arrested by Cochrane RCMP for allegedly breaching those conditions. A further probe led officers to uncover that the suspect had hidden a firearm with another individual, prompting the execution of the search warrant.

As a result, Todd Holloway, 36, of Mînî Thnî, has been charged with:

  • Possession of a Prohibited Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose
  • Possession of a Firearm While Knowing it Was Unauthorized
  • Possession of a Firearm While Unauthorized
  • Possession of a Firearm with an Altered Serial Number
  • Unsafe Storage of a Firearm
  • Failure to Comply with a Release Order (×6)

Holloway was held for a judicial interim release hearing and has been remanded into custody. He is scheduled to appear in Alberta Court of Justice in Cochrane on June 17, 2025.
