When Mahara Delain came in to scan her regularly purchased LOTTO 6/49 and WESTERN 649 tickets, she had no idea she had 100,000 reasons to celebrate.
“I scanned the ticket in-store two or three times,” she said. “I just couldn’t believe what I was seeing!”
Delain, a frequent player who always adds an EXTRA for a better shot at winning, bought her winning ticket at Madaan’s Country Market, located at 1101–101 Sunset Drive in Cochrane.
She matched the last six digits — 2747755 — in the May 10 EXTRA draw, securing a $100,000 prize.
Delain said she shared the news with her family right away and already has a plan for how to spend the winnings.
“My plan is one-third to charity, one-third to family, and one-third of the prize for myself,” she said. “It’s just an amazing feeling to have won!”
