UPDATE: The section of Highway 1A between Centre Ave and GlenEagles Drive is now open.
Cochrane RCMP are advising motorists that Highway 1A is closed between Centre Ave and GlenEagles Drive due to a serious motor vehicle collision earlier today (April 19).
Cochrane RCMP advised that recent heavy snowfall is creating hazardous driving conditions on area roadways. RCMP are seeing reduced visibility, ice, and snow accumulation. Hills such as Highway 1A and Highway 22 in and out of Cochrane are especially hazardous.
RCMP are asking drivers to avoid travel and if travel is necessary to take necessary precautions. Motorists are advised to take alternate routes until the situation has been cleared.
