Cochrane’s only Catholic elementary school may soon add two childcare programs to assist parents who can’t drop off or pick up their children at regular bell times.
Holy Spirit School surveyed parents about whether they would utilize an after school or Kindercare program.
“The preliminary feedback is positive,” said Joanna French, senior communication specialist with Calgary Catholic School District (CSSD).
All students from kindergarten to Grade 6 would be welcome at the after school care program while the Kindercare program would allow kindergarten students to remain at the school in the afternoon or to come in the morning – though it would not be considered full day kindergarten.
It’s the first time the program has rolled out at Holy Spirit School, however, CSSD has had this program available in a number of its Calgary schools.
French said it is too early to say what the associated costs would be.
“We’re continually reviewing the programs we offer and looking to explore new opportunities to ensure we’re meeting the needs of our school community,” French said.
