A man has been charged with second-degree murder after RCMP discovered the body of Myles McLean, 55, on the side of the Trans-Canada Highway on Canada Day.
Morley resident Tristan Wesley, 27, will not only face second-degree murder charges, but assault causing bodily harm and uttering threats as well.
Cochrane RCMP were dispatched at 11:45 p.m. July 1 after a report came in that there was a body laying on the side Highway 1 between Morley Road and Highway 40.
Following the discovery of the deceased, the RCMP Forensic Identification Section and the Major Crimes Unit conducted an investigation into the matter, closing the inside eastbound lane of the highway.
Police have confirmed that like the accused, McLean was a resident of Morley.
Wesley has been remanded into custody and will appear in Cochrane Provincial Court July 21.

A light aircraft was forced to make an emergency landing near the Tsuu T’ina Nation July 1.
A lone pilot was aboard the plane, a man in his 60s, and did not sustain any injuries as a result of the landing.
RCMP continue to investigate the matter.
