With the risk of breast cancer increasing with age, early screening remains a vital tool in detecting cancer in its most treatable stages. Alberta Health Services (AHS) is once again improving access to this essential service through its Screen Test mobile mammography program.
The Screen Test trailer will be stationed at the Cochrane Community Health Centre from June 19–21 and June 23–25, offering free breast cancer screening for eligible individuals.
The program helps bring mammography services to communities where they may not be readily available, removing barriers to early detection. Prior to arriving in Cochrane, the trailer will also visit the Stoney Health Centre (1 Mînî Thnî Rd.) from June 16–18.
A mammogram is a low-dose X-ray of the breast and is considered the most effective method for early breast cancer detection — often identifying changes long before symptoms appear.
Women aged 45 to 74 are encouraged to discuss their risk factors with their healthcare provider to determine whether screening is right for them.
Appointments are required. To book a screening, call 1-800-667-0604.
