From July 27 to Aug. 2, the Links of GlenEagles is playing host to the ATB Financial Classic golf tournament and the PGA TOUR is officially sponsoring the event.

“Having the PGA tour involved in our event has really elevated the caliber of players. We got guys from all over the world and that’s probably the biggest component,” said John Windwick, ATB Financial’s VP of community initiatives.

“We couldn’t be happier.”

Apart from the official tour competition, a number of activities are available for the average golf enthusiast and their children.

The Italian Centre Shop Women’s Golf Clinic takes place July 28 at the Blue Devil Golf Club. Those who take part in the event receive 45 minutes of group instruction from a PGA TOUR Canada professional, plus a three-hole pro-am.

A total of 50 spots are available in two separate sessions from 4 p.m. and 7 p.m.

In conjunction with the 2015 ATB Financial Classic, ATB Financial will be conducting a Junior Golf Clinic July 26 at the Blue Devil Golf Club in Calgary. The clinic is for kids aged six to 12, and aims to provide the opportunity to learn some golf fundamentals from PGA TOUR Canada Professionals.

The official charity of the 2015 ATB Financial Classic is Every Kid Every Community – a Hockey Alberta Initiative. Every Kid Every Community provides funding for minor hockey players who would otherwise not be able to afford fees and/or equipment. Organizers hope to raise $50,000 in 2015.

Tickets for the tournament can be purchased at atbfinancialclassic.com under the Spectators’ tab.
