Stolen truck recovered
In the early morning hours of March 2, police located a truck, which had been stolen the previous day from Canmore. The Cochrane Crime Reduction Team recovered the vehicle while conducting checks on identified property offenders.
Near one offender’s residence, police identified a single set of footprints in freshly fallen snow, which led directly from the driver’s side door of the stolen truck to the home of the offender. After speaking with the individual and a subsequent investigation, police arrested the man. A second vehicle, stolen earlier this month from Airdrie was also recovered nearby. In the case of both recovered vehicles, keys had been left in the ignition and in one case the vehicle was left idling at the time of the theft.
Greg Deviat has been charged with one count of being in possession of property obtained by crime, failing to comply with a probation order and driving while disqualified. Deviat is scheduled for Cochrane Court on March 13, 2018.
