Breakfast and Stampede go together like cowboys and horses (syrup fits in that analogy somewhere). So if you’re looking for a hearty fix of flapjacks, Cochrane has at least a few breakfast gatherings to go around.
Bow Valley Baptist Church is holding a free breakfast from 7:30 to 10 a.m. at 54 West Aarsby Road today (July 2). There will be a bouncy house, petting zoo and entertainment by the BKC Kids Choir.
On July 8, Spray Lake Sawmills Family Sports Centre will host its second annual Stampede Breakfast from 8 to 11 a.m. Admission to the breakfast is by monetary donation. If you’ve ever had the urge to pie someone, you’ll have your chance to do so for $1. All proceeds will go to the Rock the Waves campaign, which raised money for the new pool/curling facility.
There’s a complimentary pancake breakfast July 6 from 8 to 11 a.m. at 201 Grand Blvd, behind the ATB. The event is put on by a number of local sponsors, such as Royal LePage, ATB Financial, Guy’s Café & Bakery and Dr. G. Ziegenhagel & Associates, to name a few.
It’s not breakfast, but Western Financial Group is holding a Stampede barbecue July 8 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Burgers are $3 and hotdogs are $2; drinks are included. When you buy lunch, you’re entered to win tickets to the Cochrane Lion’s Club Labour Day Rodeo. All proceeds will go to the Boys and Girls Club of Cochrane and Area.
Other Stampede breakfasts are happening in and around Cochrane in communities such as Fireside (as well as in Redwood Meadows), but are exclusive to the respective community residents due to limited resources and are considered private.
