Organizers of WinterFest are calling for more community members to volunteer for this year's event on March 3.
It's the eighth annual year of the event, put on by Cochrane and Area Events Society (CAES), and this year comes with a few changes, including the location, which will now be at the Cochrane Agricultural Society on Highway 1A. Previously it was hosted at Mitford Park.
“I think it's going to be a lot of fun so I encourage people to come out and take part in the festivities and the fun and the games, ” said Marina Chabbert, with CAES. “It's great to work with partnership of other venues as well and other people so we are quite excited to offer that this year. ”
Chabbert added the location change will accommodate indoor activities if the weather gets too cold.
Among the activities include a pancake breakfast, a local performance on the ATCO stage, Calgary Stampede entertainers, ski jumpers, tons of games, marshmallow roasting and Cabane Sucre, among other things.
Admission is $5 per person and capping at $15 per family (if you have multiple children it will still only cost you $15). All the proceeds will go toward paying for the activities as the group is down on sponsorship this year.
“Typically, we don't do the gate but this year we have to just to pay for all the events we've booked in ” Chabbert said.
