Girls at St. Timothy High School are no strangers to the Cochrane school’s carpentry and welding programs.

After a long debate at the Dec. 14 council meeting, the Town of Cochrane staff with mayor and council approved the 2016 budget with a property tax increase of .56 per cent, decreased from the proposed 1.3 per cent.

Cochrane Minor Soccer (CMS) is putting on a winter goalkeeper camp on Dec. 21-22, featuring Marco Carducci, one of the hottest young goalies in Canada.

On Dec. 3, a warrant was issued for Avery Hunter from Stoney First Nation, from an incident where it was alleged Hunter held a knife and took a fire-arm from a 76-year old male from Cochrane.

A $5,000 grant will ensure community programs are more accessible to children and families on the Stoney Nakoda First Nation.

The Boys and Girls Club (BGC) of Cochrane and Area had a rough year. After a loss of $95,000 in the 2014/2015 operating year, the BGC Cochrane was faced with the tough decision to lay off six employees.

Seniors on the Bow (SOTB) is due to take a couple of weeks holiday to celebrate a successful year and to recharge our batteries for 2016. We will close at noon on Friday, Dec. 18, and reopen 9 a.m. Monday, Jan. 4.

On Dec. 15 Nakoda Elementary School will be hosting its Family Christmas Concert inviting guests to come around 11:45 a.m. for lunch with refreshments to be served from 12-12:45 p.m. The concert will begin at 1 p.m.
