Bragg Creek’s Pelkey siblings were at it again recently, making their mark in the world of competitive water skiing.

One of the most fun events of the summer, the race is open to anyone: businesses, club teams, neighbourhood groups – basically anyone with a hammer and saw and a willingness to pilot an outhouse that will travel at breakneck speeds down a paved road in a race for glory.

“Aama really wants to stand for a couple of things that we hold very close to our heart,” Poudel said. “It’s the culture and the heritage we are sharing through the food, community building that happens in all cultures around the world."

Wildlife experts often tell hikers that if they’ve spent any significant time on trails in the Bow Valley, they’ve likely been within about 10 metres of a cougar and never knew it.

Cochrane RCMP officers were busy last week, responding to events including a shooting in Sunset Ridge, a serious collision on Highway 22 near Bragg Creek, rural break-and-enters in Springbank, and more.

The ARP committee was convened with the hopes of finding a way past the deadlock and conflict seen in the municipality over aggregate resource extraction these past number of years. 

Cochrane RCMP provides more information regarding the shooting that took place in the community of Sunset Ridge on Aug. 17.

“I think the benefits are tenfold, and we might see them right away, but I think there will be plenty of long-term benefits for Cochrane as a whole,” she said.
