“Native people are a big part of western society, so it’s nice to be here and share my knowledge, ideas and culture with people at the Stampede,” Auger said.

“It’s pretty awesome. It is my favourite rodeo. Ever since I was a little kid, I dreamed of being there,” Milan said. “It’s just absolutely great to be back going and competing there.”

“We did stunt falls, things like getting shot and falling, flips and horses,” Cardinal said with a grin. “It’s a really welcoming community and you get skills taught by people who have been doing this for 30 or 40 years … We have so much fun with it.”

“It’s always a little bit scary until the first hit on the field and then you’re good. The first hit always tells you it’s game time and then after that, you’re in your season. You can practice all you want, but without that first hit in the game you’re just practicing."

“I’m super pumped. It’s so awesome to be back in-person talking about events, getting people back together and celebrating our community again,” Genung said. 

Cochrane RCMP responded to a fatal single-vehicle collision on Range Road 32 in the early hours of July 15.

“The foundation of this policy is grounded in Cochrane’s vision of celebrating the diversity of people who call Cochrane home."

“The more people that know about domestic violence, the more people are accepting it’s a real thing in our community, the better we can deal with it,” McFadden said.

“We really wanted to go in July so there was some of the summer left for the kids to enjoy their bikes,” Gosselin said.  “It’s going to be a fun event.”
