What's happening in Cochrane this week: the Cochrane and Area Humane Society is hosting its summer book sale, Bingo is back at the Cochrane Legion, and the Boys and Girls Club of Cochrane and Area is hosting a free pancake breakfast.

“Live music is definitely something that everybody has come to love at the festival at Mitford. It’s fun to be able to add it back to an extent this year and use all local performers,” Mitchell said. “A lot of them [the performers] are really excited to get back to live performances.”

COCHRANE— Looking to bridge the relationship between Cochrane and Stoney Nakoda First Nation residents a memorial honouring the memory of Indigenous Children who attended Residential Schools is planned for Canada Day.

“The grant money will help us to get this all set up and launching programming and teaching,” Kruger said. “We’re at that point of really starting to put the bricks and pieces together about what that programming is going to look like.”

"The traumatic effects of Residential Schools are part of our true history. It has negatively impacted many generations of Indigenous people," Flowers said. "It is time for Cochrane leaders to formalize the work on Truth and Reconciliation. I also believe it is up to each every one of us to become educated and to truly understand the issues."

COCHRANE— A fire advisory will come into effect in Cochrane Monday (June 28) starting at 5 p.m. Open fires are allowed during the fire advisory, but residents are reminded to be extra vigilant.

ROCKY VIEW— A fire advisory has been issued by Rocky View County Services for the entire region. The fire ban was issued due to dry and windy conditions in both the West and East regions of the County.
