Alberta Serious Incident Response Team (ASIRT) has been directed to investigate the happenings surrounding a RCMP officer-involved shooting in Cochrane.

Beaver received positive feedback and requests from the community to hold the contest again. She's now asking for donations from community members to match or exceed their prizing efforts from 2018.

The cozy hamlet was transformed into a sparkly, winter wonderland.

Last Saturday (Dec. 7) the Cochrane RCMP municipal traffic and general duty officers conducted numerous checkstops in and around the Cochrane area. The initiative was part of the RCMP's National Impaired Driving Enforcement Day.

"The students are always super excited for this event," said St. Timothy teacher Leo Keefer who also doubles as the organizer of the game. "It's our biggest charity and school event of the year and the kids have been talking about it a lot over the past couple weeks."

"I'm super excited and honoured to play for Team Canada," the Cochrane native said. "It's been my goal since I started playing hockey." 

"Having watched the all-star game the last two years, it's certainly a fun event to watch. It attracts more local families to come out and support their local junior 'B' team as well as getting to watch some of the best players from other teams. It's good hockey and it enables people to stay local rather than having to make a trip to Calgary (to watch the Flames or Hitmen) in order to catch a game."

Labour relations changes took effect Nov. 20, while other changes will take effect Jan. 31, 2020.
