The Generals will be back on home ice for two games this weekend – against the Mountainview Colts on Saturday and the Medicine Hat Cubs on Sunday.

The Cochrane High Cobras opened the 2022 girls' soccer season on Sept. 20, with an 8-0 win against the Bow Valley Bobcats.

Though they weren't the first team to put points up on the scoreboard, the Cochrane High Cobras football team showed the Bow Valley Bobcats who's still boss in town on Sept. 16, coasting to a 54-3 victory over their local rivals.

Cochrane followed up the loss to Okotoks with an 11-4 win over the Strathmore Wheatland Kings the following day. The Generals will play their home-opener Saturday, Sept. 24 against the High River Flyers. Puck drop is slated for 7:30 p.m. at the Cochrane Arena.

“I’m really proud of everybody. Our whole purpose is to get seniors off the couch and get them involved physically, mentally and socially,” Campbell said.

"It's great when the two Cochrane teams get together. A lot of those kids have played since they were in atom, through peewee and bantam. Now they're in high school and it's just a great opportunity to get on the field and compete."

The Calgary Rugby Union (CRU) championship cup is returning to Banff for the first time since 2018, after the Banff Bears senior men's team defeated the Bow Valley Grizzlies of Cochrane 19-15 in a back-and-forth battle Sept. 10 in Calgary.

“I think by the end of the year, you’re going to see a gigantic difference between where we are now and where we’re going,” Paul said. “Even where we were at the end of last year compared to where we are now, we’re light years ahead.”

In an exciting twist of fate, the Grizzlies and Bears will meet again on the pitch at the Calgary Rugby Union for a tiebreaker to determine which bruins crew reigns supreme.
