A trio of Cochranites are looking to help the Calgary Dinos win the Vanier Cup on Nov. 23 when they play the Montreal Carabins.

"We got out to a hot start. I think we were pretty comfortable throughout (the game) running our offence. We have such a great gameplan and playbook for every game which really helps being able to execute at all times."

"(Those games) gives us confidence that we are a team to beat in the league. We proved we can play with two of the best and it shows that we are a top team. We want teams to not want to play us."

"I was in my seat and my drinks were brought to me and as that happened, the goal happened," Dowling's mom said with a laugh. "Everyone around me was clapping and cheering and I didn't know what was happening ... I might as well be truthful about it. I could have said that I saw it, but why? It just added to the evening." 

"It's touching and important to them. You start to hear the stories as the boys start talking a little more so obviously there's an emotional aspect to that and excitement to be able to give back."

Airdrie, Cochrane and Chestermere all have vibrant minor hockey scenes, and Airdrie and Cochrane each boast competitive Junior B teams that can draw upwards of 400 fans for big games. The populations of these municipalities, not to mention the number of hockey players and fans in the area, could easily support a Junior A franchise.

Coming off a tough 4-1 loss at the hands of the Calgary Titans the Cochrane Chaos put their nose to the grindstone and were able to come away with a pair of victories.

"It's a pretty special feeling."
