"The students are always super excited for this event," said St. Timothy teacher Leo Keefer who also doubles as the organizer of the game. "It's our biggest charity and school event of the year and the kids have been talking about it a lot over the past couple weeks."

"I'm super excited and honoured to play for Team Canada," the Cochrane native said. "It's been my goal since I started playing hockey." 

"Having watched the all-star game the last two years, it's certainly a fun event to watch. It attracts more local families to come out and support their local junior 'B' team as well as getting to watch some of the best players from other teams. It's good hockey and it enables people to stay local rather than having to make a trip to Calgary (to watch the Flames or Hitmen) in order to catch a game."

"But more importantly, they're a pillar of our community. They've been here for so long and they've always been quite kind to us when we've had meetings there and stuff like that. The building is aging and they need some help with some upkeeps. One of the bigger items they need some help on is the furniture so we thought this would be a good way to bring some awareness to the needs of the Legion."

On Dec. 13, the Timberwolves will also mentor Timbits in Canmore ahead of a charity hockey game at the Canmore Rec Team at 5 p.m. This “Battle of the Badges” will see Fire/EMS square off against the Police to raise funds for Project All In.

"One of our goals for the game was to come out and play a solid first period and set the tone for the game which we did. We slowed down a bit in the second and third, but we came out with the win and at the end of the day we got the two points which we needed." 

"It's a crazy feeling," Nusl said of the victory. "So proud of this team and all the adversity we faced this year with injuries. I think the win is still sinking in, it's hard to put into words what kind of feeling it was on the field when the game was over."

The Cochrane Cobras are tier III provincial champions again.

"All the seniors will remember this game forever, and we are focused and committed to leave Raymond with a win."

"The big differences I've noticed were that all lines started to mesh together really well and everyone has started finding ways to put the puck in the net which we were really struggling with at the start. We have also cut back on penalties a lot which has been key to our success."
