Nothing like a white Christmas to inspire the imagination – and to motivate a serious hiker/photographer.

The other day I was feeling quite downhearted from all the negative news headlines about our troubled world.

This is the season when our traditions remind us that God has brought light into our world and lives.

I agree there are challenges in the sea: jellyfish, seaweed, hypothermia, sharks. But there are also challenges in the pool: too many swimmers in a lane, getting pulled out for a swim-a-cise class, and leg cramps.

This Christmas season instead of going out of your way to hit the major box stores in Calgary, Airdrie or Cochrane for Christmas shopping, try instead to include some local content in your gift-giving.
