“It’s a feel-good, holiday show that is for everyone of all ages. It’s really just about the true meaning of Christmas.”

According to Dawn, adult puppetry is an unusual art form in North America, though it is very common in Europe. 

Bragg Creek's annual Spirit of Christmas festival featured an outdoor market, horse-drawn sleigh rides, public skating, a children's market, scavenger hunt, and free hot chocolate on Dec. 3.

“This holiday season, we are asking Albertans to support wildlife in need and include AIWC as part of their Christmas giving in whatever way they can,” read an AIWC press release. “Wildlife needs us, and we need them.”

“We are looking forward to welcoming everyone back [for the event] and we’re hoping everybody enjoys the Christmas spirit that we’re trying to project,” she said, adding the event will mark the third weekend of Christmas-themed events in the Creek.

What Purdy hopes audience members will take away from his Dec. 6 talk is his immense gratitude for Glenbow Ranch Provincial Park, which he likened to a nearby natural oasis from Calgary's urban sprawl.

Eva Knight, Springbank's drama teacher, said the play will feature plenty of sword-fighting choreography, which will make for an exciting spectacle for audiences.

Often when local farmers and ranchers are thinking about stewardship, they are thinking of the practical things they can do on their lands to lessen their environmental footprint while making their operations more sustainable at the same time.

“It’s about balancing our obligations,” stated Wright. “Protecting residents, but identifying we do need gravel. Gravel is a commodity we all have to have. It’s our roads, it’s our homes – it’s not about saying ‘No’ to gravel. I want to make that clear.” 

“This is a rarity,” Riemann said at the meeting. “We typically do not sell topsoil out of our pits because that is used for our reclamation of the gravel pits as we continue to close out our pits.”
