“In preparation for Stage Two of our relaunch now is an opportune time to expand testing to get a full understating of the presence of COVID-19 in our population.”

“It’s an internal level of un-comfort, we sometimes think that if we start talking about our death and planning out our funeral then it’s going to happen soon,” Roots said. “That’s not the case— it just makes you more prepared when the time comes.”

The Cochrane Eco Centre will be reopening on Tuesday (June 2) with modified programs in place.

There have been 22 new cases of COVID-19 identified in Alberta bringing the provincial total to 714 active cases.

“First and foremost, this is about public safety and trying to ensure we don’t get a spread of COVID in our community. But we need to understand we have businesses that are hanging on by thread and we need to do everything we can," said Mayor Karen Sorensen.

The province reported on Sunday (May 24) that there are 46 people, six of whom are in intensive care units. There have been 42 new cases of the virus identified, bringing the provincial total of active cases to 801.

“We’re hopeful we’re going to be able to do some more stuff to serve the community— We’ve got some very good out of the box thinkers.”
