“I think that’ll have a trickle-down effect through the whole club and hopefully inspire others to go and try it out,” Macdonald said. “Competitions aren’t for everyone, but they are a lot of fun."

“We’re very proud of our girls,” Paradis said. “For a lot of them, it was their first year playing basketball and we’re amazed by the girls’ performance as a team."

The program works by pairing participants with trained community volunteers, and helps those residents access necessary and applicable government benefits.

Hyndman said the cornerstones of the incubator idea will be such things as inspiration, trust, exchange, support, connection, sharing and teamwork.

A female suspect has been arrested, however her name will not be released until as the investigation is ongoing.

“Everything is crazy expensive right now,” Thind said. “Cochrane is not like Calgary. It’s not a huge city. The problem is, it’s not in the town’s hands.”

It’s not quite like rolling a rock up hill, but it may be just as tiring, as Rocky View County (RVC) sets out to define a new Aggregate Resource Plan (ARP) that both citizens and industry members can live with.

“Having the series even now really means next weekend there’s a little bit less pressure," Nusl said. "We really earned that win, and I think it inspires confidence in the group for this upcoming weekend.”

The agricultural services officer said the workshop is a good one for RVC residents to attend, as landowners can learn for themselves how to take care of the trees on their property.
