Hinman, who was recently-elected as party leader in July, gave a 20-minute presentation outlining the changes that need to occur for Alberta to separate from the rest of Canada and become its own self-governing body.  

“I wasn’t sure, when I was younger, what that community was called, because I didn’t see any rainbows around me, I didn’t see anybody who said they were like me. It was very lonely growing up for sure."

Erika Richards, president of the Cochrane and Area Events Society said that Helping Hands was named this year because of their persistent energy toward helping those in need, and finding inventive ways to do it— like the free food shed that’s taken residence at St. Andrew’s United Church.

“We’re going to see air quality improvement for the most part over the next few days."

Looking to ensure every child in Cochrane has an inclusive place to play, The Kiwanis Club of Cochrane and Variety- the Children's Charity of Alberta to upgrade the playground in Centennial Plaza.

“After CALTAF I would have been happy with some modest personal bests and good experience, I would have considered that successful. But what I expected and where they ended up— They just totally exceeded everything that I thought was possible this year.”

“I think that, to me, is the most important— That we can continue telling these stories, sharing their importance in a modern text, and now we can just relate those values in a different way.”

“Right now, is a time for change for people who are feeling a little bit powerless about where things are going.”
