Buddy, a support robot, aims to help children in the community entwined in criminal matters through what can often be difficult and traumatic legal processes, said Tamara Low, client support coordinator with Cochrane and Area Victim Services.

A number of officers from Cochrane RCMP and Stoney Nakoda RCMP have responded to a fatal collision on Highway 1, where two people died on scene and a third is in serious condition.

“We’re so happy with how Cochrane and the community have embraced it. We’re just really excited for this year to be even bigger and better.”

"We know it's been a popular cycling destination based on the opportunity that arose as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, but we do want to extend that enhanced offer and so we really are looking for feedback and those are to two options we're considering at the moment."

Robert Martens, president of Bike Cochrane, said that the park is basically complete, but with this new funding they’re also able to install some simple tools onsite for cyclists.

“When people travel to participate or even be a spectator, the average spend is 62 dollars a day. They spend that in restaurants, they stay overnight, they rent equipment. That helps the economy and that’s where the economic impact comes from. It makes our businesses stronger.”

“It’s certainly not a disaster, but it’s sort of fair to below average, a bit more spotty and not as abundant as last year… What this will likely mean is that bears are going to have to travel further afield and moving across the landscape looking for food to get as many calories as they can.”

“When we did revisit households, we noticed that tagging and turning carts, it did influence an improvement in recycling separation. The carts that were first tagged and turned, the second time they were much better.”
