On Monday July 26th, Japanese teenager Momiji Nishiya, aged 13, became the first Olympic Champion in Women’s skateboarding. This is the first-time skateboarding has been included in the Olympics.

ROCKY VIEW COUNTY— Facing an unprecedented summer of intense heat and little rain, Rocky View County declared a municipal agricultural disaster Tuesday (Aug. 3).

What's happening in Cochrane this week: the Town of Cochrane is moving onto the next phase of Highway 1A improvements, the Family Resource Network and the Kiwanis Club of Cochrane are partnering to provide kids with school supplies, and the Cochrane and Area Humane Society needs donations.

COCHRANE— Cochrane RCMP was on scene on the banks of the Bow River after a bystander saw what they believed to be a body floating downstream Thursday (July 29) A report came in at roughly 2 p.m.

“It’s been pretty crazy, 20 years from where we started to where we are now,” Borton said. “I’m pretty proud, the community of Cochrane and sponsors, I’ve tried to keep a lot of my sponsors local, how they’ve just stayed behind me, supporting it for all these years means a lot.”

“It just so happens that we are passionate with arts. We want to share it with the new generation right now.”
