RCMP are still investigating after a 32-year-old Stoney Nakoda man was shot in the foot on Tuesday (July 28) morning. Two suspects are in custody and another individual was arrested on outstanding warrants.

“I think Cochrane has done an awesome job throughout COVID— Cochrane has gone through this fairly unscathed. We’ve had low numbers of cases, Cochranites have done a great job in following guidelines and being kind,” Mayor Jeff Genung said. “We’ve been flattening the curve here.”

304 new coronavirus cases in past three days

ROCKY VIEW COUNTY— Cochrane RCMP and an Alberta Sheriff managed to successfully locate a dangerous driver Monday (July 27) afternoon. Cochrane RCMP received multiple complaints of a dangerous driver on eastbound Highway 1 coming from Canmore.

“We’re very fortunate to be able to partner with [the Alberta Vehicle Extrication Association] and have him come and teach our members all of these great tips and skills and demonstrate the technology,” Polley said. “The advancement of technology on vehicles and safety systems that are in place in those vehicles has resulted in a drop in fatalities."

“We’re already in that average range and we still have three to four weeks of severe weather season ahead of us,” said Blaine Lowry, Warning Preparedness Meteorologist with Environment Canada.
