Cochrane Cowboys wrestlers were again proven to be the cream of the crop as they brought all opposition to the floor during the ASAA High School Provincial Wrestling Championships at Bev Facey High School in Sherwood Park, on Mar. 11-12.

It wasn’t the best of seasons and it wasn’t the worst of seasons, but if you put the time and effort in, individual excellence is rewarded.

After finishing eighth in regular-season action, the Airdrie-Cochrane (AC) Avalanche stunned the AMMHL by finishing with a silver medal at Sutter Cup South in Lethbridge over the weekend of Mar. 10-13, walking away with a 2-2-1 record.

Cochranite Jake Dubé was named the 2016 recipient of the Stewy Stewart Memorial Award on Mar. 6.

The Springbank Park For All Seasons was abuzz with hockey as the Springbank Rockies hosted the Hockey Alberta Midget B Provincial Championships over the course of Mar. 10-13.

Amateur fighters from Rival Boxing Cochrane have continued to stun the boxing world, picking up a pile of medals over the weekend of Feb. 27-28 at the Golden Gloves in Spruce Grove.

The Canadian Hockey League (CHL) recently announced that Cochranite and Lethbridge Hurricanes captain Tyler Wong was named CHL Player of the Week for the week ending Feb. 28, after he recorded 10 points in three games.
