Madden-based Alberta Institute for Wildlife Conservation (AWIC) is celebrating 30 years of service in 2023, and is hoping to raise $30,000 by May 31 to help with its spring and summer operations to continue saving and rehabilitating injured or orphan

With the board’s approval of the plan, they will now seek confirmation from the Alberta government to move ahead with the modular relocations.  

For nearly two hours, the four candidates – incumbents Angela Pitt and Peter Guthrie from the United Conservative Party (UCP) as well as challengers Shaun Fluker and Daniel Nelles from the New Democratic Party (NDP) – took questions pertaining to several political topics, such as health care, public education, infrastructure, affordable housing, the cost of living crisis, and Alberta's energy sector, among others.

Cochranites looking to be more water-wise because they believe it’s financially or environmentally responsible can take assurance that help is at hand.

“It’s always really awesome to see some Cochrane rivalry go down, especially at our home turf,” Scheberger said. “It was a really fun game to watch, a really fun game to coach, and not quite the outcome we wanted, but it was a really good game.”

Secretary for the FCACA, Mila Prout, said in addition to helping clean up and beautify the thoroughfar, the annual highway clean-up serves as a major fundraising event for the FCACA.

“As a woman, I am always alert. I have to be aware of my surroundings wherever I go, even if it’s just the grocery store. I’m not going to be another statistic and I’m going to continue to spread awareness."
