The Cochrane RCMP is seeking the public's assistance in determining the cause of a grass fire near Bow Valley High School on Wednesday (April 28).

Students have been asked to stay home from Fireside School while officials conduct contact tracing to determine the scope of spread of COVID-19.

“If you’re in isolation, it’s just nice to know that there’s someone out there who cares."

“It speaks volumes to the fact that impaired driving continues to be the leading criminal code cause of death in this country. It’s not murder or anything like that, it’s drunk driving. This guy is driving while his ability is so impaired that he’s not aware that he only has three tires on his car, and he can’t find the City of Calgary. In all likelihood, he had driven out of Calgary and was completely lost on a road that only goes two directions."

The Town of Cochrane reported 178 active cases of COVID-19 as of the end of the day Wednesday (April 28). To date the town has identified 758 cases of the virus— Two people have died and 578 people have recovered.

“The sexual exploitation of children is a crime that tears at the fabric of society and preys on our most vulnerable. Increased provincial funding is enabling ALERT to double the size of its ICE [Internet Child Exploitation Unit] unit, ensuring it has the tools and resources to track down predators who commit these heinous acts and bring them to justice,” said Minister of Justice and Solicitor General Kaycee Madu.

The Town of Cochrane has instituted a fire restriction due to dry, windy conditions.

“Football is fun and should always be fun, and it should be a sport that challenges them to become better athletes, better people, better human beings, better teammates, and through that fun and engaging atmosphere they’re going to learn those skills."

“I really encourage patients to start looking for family physicians because the relationship with the family physician is really critical for long-term health outcomes.”
