“We understand people want to get back in the pool and this is a way to get them back and get their kids active as well. As soon as we can open up high-intensity swimming without a mask, we will. People are waiting for it and we want to give it to them, but we want to also ensure we are doing our part to keep cases down and follow the rules."

“What COVID has taught us has been a lot around just being connected, and remembering what youth sport is all about, which is just taking care of people over their performance, for lack of a better word. It’s creating amazing humans inside the world of sport, and just hoping that what we’re teaching them has a positive impact."

“We had to put ourselves in danger to rescue that horse— You could see the fast-flowing water in the crevasse the horse had broken," Wesley said. “Those people, they weren’t selfish one bit … There was such unity to jump in. They were so brave and courageous— These wonderful people put their lives on the line.”

“It is such a positive thing. It is so rewarding vaccinating the public,” Holowaty said. “It’s a step toward getting us back to some type of normalcy.”

COCHRANE— Cochrane RCMP are continuing to investigate the disappearance of Leonine O’Driscoll-Zak, 5, and Wyatt O’Driscoll-Zak, 2.

ROCKY VIEW COUNTY— Residents near the wildfire located west of Cochrane are being evacuated from the area. Fire crews continue to battle the blaze near Highway 1A between the Wild Cat Gas Plant and Ghost Station Gas Bar.

As of the end of the day Wednesday (April 1) there were a reported 47 active cases of COVID-19 in Cochrane. To date the town has identified 423 cases of the virus— Two people have died and 374 people have recovered.

Dry and windy conditions have prompted the Town of Cochrane to issue a fire ban.
