Two wins in a week means the Cochrane High School Cobras soccer team has leapfrogged over archrivals Bow Valley Bobcats into first place in Rocky View Sports Association league play.

The Cochrane Bears boys rugby team is showing their potential as the Big Sky Rugby Union high school regular-season begins to wind down.

A work in progress. That’s the best way to describe the Bow Valley Grizzlies Rugby Club so far this season. The talent is there, the desire and work ethic are there, even the results have been going in their favour, but things can always get better.

Opposing high school football players can rest easy now.

It’s been a mixed bag of results for the Rockyview Silvertips so far this season.

It wasn’t the prettiest of wins, but at this stage of game that’ll be the last thing on the Bow Valley Grizzlies’ minds. The Grizz braved a scorching season opening day on May 7, smashing the Calgary Irish 37-26 in Calgary Rugby Union action.

Stepping out onto the world stage is nothing new for Hidemi Uchiage. The Ippon Dojo instructor and Bert Church High School math teacher was in Salzburg, Austria, recently with Team Canada at the Salzburg Open karate tournament.

What a way to answer the critics. After suffering a blip in the road with a 41-10 defeat to Foothills Composite Falcons on April 27, the Cochrane Bears have bounced back in the best possible way.

Be afraid. Be very afraid. At the start of the Rocky View Sports Association soccer season, it was anyone’s guess who the team to beat would be, but the Bow Valley High School Bobcats are making a case as frontrunners.

Unbeaten in their first two games of the season, the Cochrane High School Cobras boys soccer team couldn’t ask for a much better start.
