“We’ve got multiple kids ranked right up there at the top of the province. They’re motivated, they’re committed, they get it and they’ve put a ton of work in ... The kids know that they’re as good or better than anyone else in the province, and they’re coming to competitions with that attitude.”

“To work with such a community-focused team was such a great opportunity for me. As much as I’ve moved onto bigger markets, having that community-first focus has been a huge asset for me."

“We knew it was coming up. When spring camp hit, we knew we had minimal time to get ready to compete with these guys."

“It’s pretty awesome. It is my favourite rodeo. Ever since I was a little kid, I dreamed of being there,” Milan said. “It’s just absolutely great to be back going and competing there.”

“It’s always a little bit scary until the first hit on the field and then you’re good. The first hit always tells you it’s game time and then after that, you’re in your season. You can practice all you want, but without that first hit in the game you’re just practicing."

“It’s super exciting. But, it’s almost a kind of sad note because the guys know it’s the last games of their minor hockey career,” Sweet said.

“What a great time to start back up and get more and more people involved,” Horton said. “You can be any size and there’s a position for you on the field ... Most of rugby is no cuts. There’s no tryouts. You turn up you play.”

“That’s kind of been our secret for all of these years. Young kids learn from the older kids and the leadership that the older kids have to bring every day to that football field is the secret to our success."

“I think all of the coaches, all of us are really excited. It’s almost a new year if you like. We’ve got a new people joined, and a lot of our old favourites have come back, but we’ve got a lot of new people joining and I think it’s just because they’re keen to get out and try something and get some exercise."

“We’ve had a really great response from our members, just wanting their kids to get out there, have fun, play the game and just hang out with their friends. And at the same time, I think the parents are just excited to get back out and see their friends and be around the diamond."
