The Venue Bar and Grill will close out the month of August with a first time performance by Dr. Friday on Aug. 31.

The month of August means summer is coming to a close and the start of the upcoming school campaign is near. The Town of Cochrane still has plenty of activities throughout the month to wrap up the season though and kick off the fall.

More than 400 people took in the festivities of the Cochrane Library’s third offering of Medieval Day on Saturday.

With the celebration of Canada's 151st birthday wrapping up on Sunday with fireworks, Cochranites and Canadians alike will now turn their heads to the Calgary Stampede, which kicks off July 6.

Cochrane author Alyssa Palmer is part of the Women of Stampede group that has recently released a series of seven romance, Calgary Stampede related novels in celebration of the Greatest Show on Earth taking place July 6 to 15.

The Venue Bar and Grill will welcome the debut show of Calgary rock and roll cover band called The Sindicats on July 13. The five-man band is led by bass guitar player and lead vocals Johnnie Sinclair.
